Refinancing

Stop paying the loyalty tax.

Lenders often save their sharpest rates for new customers. If you haven't reviewed your loan lately, you may be paying more than you need to. We'll check, and do the switch if it's worth it.

Why do people refinance?

  • A lower rate

The most common reason, and often the quickest win.

  • Your fixed rate is ending

Don't roll onto the revert rate without comparing first.

  • Renovating or consolidating

Access equity for a renovation, or roll expensive debts into one repayment.

  • Better features

An offset account, redraw or split that suits how you live now.

Questions we hear a lot

How do I know if I should refinance?

If you haven't reviewed your loan in two years, your fixed rate is ending, or you want to borrow for renovations or consolidate debts, it's worth a check. The refinance calculator gives you a first idea in a minute.

What does switching cost?

Usually a discharge fee from your current lender and sometimes government registration fees, often a few hundred dollars in total. Breaking a fixed rate early can cost much more. We work out whether the saving outweighs the cost before you decide.

Will talking to you affect my credit score?

No. Talking to us, using our calculators and getting a plan together doesn't put an enquiry on your credit file. An enquiry is only recorded when you authorise an application to a lender, and we'll tell you before that happens.

What does it cost to use a mortgage broker?

Most mortgage brokers in Australia are paid a commission by the lender when your loan settles, rather than charging you. Our Credit Guide sets out exactly how we're paid and any fee that could apply, and if a fee ever applies to you we'll tell you in writing before we start.
